  ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಅಂಗಳವಿರುವ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತರಹೇವಾರಿ ತರಕಾರಿಗಳ ಪೌಷ್ಠಿಕ ಕೈತೋಟ ಮತ್ತು ಬಣ್ಣದ ಗಿಡಗಳ ಹೂದೋಟ ಕಂಡುಬರುವುದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ. ಪಟ್ಟಣಿಗರೂ ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ತೋಟಗಾರಿಕೆಯತ್ತ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿರುವ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಪೇಟೆ ಮಂದಿ ಮನೆ ಸುತ್ತಲ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಜಾಗ, ಒಳಾಂಗಣ, ಟೆರೇಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತೋಟ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿ ಸೈ ಎನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೂ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೇ ಜಾಗದ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಂದ ಹೂತೋಟ-ಕೈತೋಟ ಇವೆರಡರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೋ ಒಂದಕ್ಕಷ್ಟೇ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸೀಮಿತಗೊಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬಹುಶಃ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಕೈತೋಟವನ್ನೇ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡುವವರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿರಬಹುದು. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಇದೇ ಕೈತೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬಣ್ಣ ಭರಿಸಿ ಹೂದೋಟದಷ್ಟೇ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿಸುವ ಅವಕಾಶವಾದಲ್ಲಿ!?. ಅಲಂಕಾರಿಕ ತರಕಾರಿಗಳು           ಕೆಂಪು ಟೊಮೇಟೋ ಹಸಿರು ಸೊಪ್ಪು ತರಕಾರಿಗಳ ಕೈತೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ಹೊಸ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆ ಅಲಂಕಾರಿಕ ತರಕಾರಿ ಬೆಳೆಗಳು. ಹಳದಿ-ಕೇಸರಿ-ಕೆನ್ನೀಲಿ-ಚಾಕೋಲೇಟ್ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಟೋಮೇಟೋಗಳು, ಕಡುನೇರಳೆ-ಕೆಂಪು-ಹಳದಿ ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಸಿಕಮ್, ಬಿಳಿ-ಚಿತ್ತಾರದ ಬದನೆ, ಕೆಂಪು ಬೆಂಡೆ, ನೇರಳೆ-ಹಳದಿ ಬೀನ್ಸ್, ರೆಡ್ ಕ್ಯಾಬೇಜ್, ಬಣ್ಣದ ಕಾಳಿನ ಜೋಳ, ಕಾಮನಬಿಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬಣ್ಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮೈಗೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಮೆಣಸು, ಹೀಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಹಲವು ಛಾಯೆಯ ಅಲಂಕಾರಿಕ ತರಕಾರಿಗಳು ನಿಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಸೀ ಕೈತೋಟ ಸೇರುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಒಂದೆರಡು ಸಸಿಯಾದರೂ...
